MEDIA

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 29. Making it my mission to raise awareness  about the condition and continue my life as planned, I began campaigning and sharing my story on social media. In an attempt to spread the awareness net even wider in 2017 I wrote and published a book on life with Parkinson’s and in 2018 I video blogged for 365 days.

I featured in the BBC2 documentary ‘The Big Life Fix’ where Microsoft’s Haiyan Zhang created a bespoke wearable device that allowed me to write and draw for the first time in years.

Blockchain Expo Interviews | Emma Lawton, Parkinsons UK | Tech for Social Good

Recently, we had the pleasure of interviewing Emma Lawton at Blockchain Expo. We posted about the exciting projects/individuals we met here: https://steemit.com/blockchain/@weareunblocked/interviewing-exciting-projects-at-blockchain-expo Emma Lawton was one of the most interesting individuals we met at the Expo. She was there on the panel for "AI for Social Good", and we knew we wanted to speak to her afterwards. http://www.emmalawton.co.uk/ Follow her on https://twitter.com/ems_lawton https://www.instagram.com/ems_lawton/ --- Emma has a very inspirational story, having been diagnosed with Parkinsons at the age of 29, she continues to live a full life, working as Creative Director of Parkinsons UK, blogging, writing a book, and so much else. In this interview, we talk about how technology allows her to experience more freedom in her day to day life. We often think of the ways technology disconnect people, but forget how it can enable some people to make connections and enable them to live a more full life. From being able to order taxis by voice recognition to a special watch allowing her to write, technology is a blessing for Emma. Watch this brief interview to hear more! It was such a pleasure to meet her, and we hope to have an opportunity to meet her and speak with her again! --- We hope that you enjoyed watching this today! If you have any thoughts or comments, let us know, we'd love to hear from you! Thanks for watching!
